Terry Crews expresses his hope for a live-action adaptation of\u00a0Gears of War<\/em>‘s rival franchise,\u00a0Crackdown<\/em><\/strong>. Hollywood is currently experiencing a surge in\u00a0video game adaptations, from\u00a0The Super Mario Bros. Movie<\/p>\n <\/em>\u00a0(2023) and\u00a0A Minecraft Movie<\/em>\u00a0(2025), which both made $1 billion at the box office, to television shows like Prime Video’s\u00a0Fallout<\/em>\u00a0and HBO’s\u00a0The Last of Us<\/em>, which have both won Emmys.<\/p>\n In an interview with\u00a0ScreenRant<\/em>‘s Grant Hermanns for his\u00a0Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Replacer<\/em>\u00a0campaign,\u00a0Terry Crews said he would “absolutely love<\/em>” to do a\u00a0<\/p>\n Crackdown<\/em>\u00a0adaptation<\/strong>\u00a0and would welcome talks with Microsoft. He explains that successful video game adaptations depend on strong storytelling and believes\u00a0Crackdown<\/em>\u00a0has the potential to translate into a feature film.<\/p>\n Crews envisions the adaptation with an intentionally exaggerated, “psychotronic B-movie<\/em>” style, comparing its tone to\u00a0The Running Man<\/em>, and says the goal should be pure fun. Any of these adaptations that they can do correctly, that’s just great. IP. It’s the same as in the comic world, it’s about whether you have that storyline and you can make it work. However, Terry Crews has long been a popular fan cast for another adaptation of an Xbox 360 game in Netflix’s live-action\u00a0<\/p>\n In a 2022 interview, Crews expressed interest in starring in Netflix’s\u00a0Gears of War<\/em>\u00a0movie alongside Dave Bautista, who has been a popular fan cast for the role of Marcus Fenix:<\/p>\n Dave Bautista is a good, good friend and we talked about Gears of War years ago and I said, “Man, I would love to do this with you,” and he was like, “I’d love to do this with you.” Now, I just hear that they’re announcing this whole deal. It’s not up to me, but if I had the chance and if anyone wanted me for this movie and for this role, I would take it in a heartbeat. It is an amazing project. It’s an amazing game. Every part of that I would want to be in. I can’t wait to see who they do cast in the movie and whether I’m in it or not, I’m going to be watching.
