And there were injuries. There was a scare from quarterback Jordan Love, who left the game briefly after injuring his left (non-throwing) shoulder, and, of greater concern, there was star running back Josh Jacobs, who tried to play through a knee injury he suffered in the first quarter, but ultimately left the game for good early in the second quarter.<\/p>\n
Jacobs had gotten off to a solid start in the game for the Packers, with 40 yards on seven carries, but landed awkwardly out of bounds on a run with 9:12 to go in the first quarter. The Packers had no further details on Jacobs\u2019 injury, but in his postgame media session, coach Matt LaFleur conceded he is worried.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think any time a player, especially of his magnitude, any time a player doesn\u2019t finish a game, you\u2019re always concerned about the welfare of them,\u201d LaFleur said.<\/p>\n
The positive for the Packers was that, behind Jacobs, backup Emanuel Wilson was able to give the team some production. Wilson had 11 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown, as well as a catch for nine yards.<\/p>\n
He also caught the 2-point attempt after the Packers\u2019 final touchdown to give them a more comfortable seven-point lead.<\/p>\n
Love was asked about adjusting the offense once Jacobs went out: \u201cI don\u2019t think you have to adjust too much. Obviously, it\u2019s tough whenever people go down. But \u00a0like we always say, next man up mentality. Emanuel Wilson came in, obviously he has played a lot of ball. \u00a0But he did a great job tonight of just finding aways to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for his own injury, Love downplayed the severity. He did come back to play, after all, and led the Packers to the win with 174 yards and two touchdowns. Malik Willis led the Packers on a touchdown drive immediately after Love\u2019s injury.<\/p>\n
\u201cWent in, got it evaluated and I figured it was good enough to come back, so I went back in. It was definitely not fun. Small injury, so we\u2019ll re-evaluate it when we get back, look at it, see what\u2019s going on. But it was not fun,\u201d Love said.<\/p>\n
The injury was noticeable throughout the game, Love said, but nothing too severe.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was definitely manageable. It was something I was able to play through. It definitely was there but it was manageable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
