The\u00a0Buffalo Bills\u00a0headed into one of the biggest games of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday without a notable name on the field for the offense. Wide receiver\u00a0Keon Coleman\u00a0was a healthy scratch for Week 11\u2019s matchup against the\u00a0Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it turns out that absence was due to the young wideout being late to a team meeting on Friday.<\/p>\n
Bills head coach\u00a0Sean McDermott\u00a0and his coaching staff clearly won\u2019t tolerate that kind of behavior and will use Coleman to set an example for his teammates in the final stretch of the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

After the Bills were able to get the win over the Bucs on Sunday, McDermott spoke to the media and addressed the benching of Coleman.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was late for a team meeting,\u201d McDermott said during his\u00a0postgame press conference. \u201cThat was my decision.\u201d<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t the first time Coleman has been late to a meeting this season, which obviously makes this that much more concerning for the Bills. McDermott asked about how frustrating it must be to deal with that kind of behavior from the 22-year-old wide receiver.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is disappointing, but I still believe in the young man,\u201d McDermott said of Coleman. \u201cWe get to a certain point, and I\u2019ve got to do something. I try and give the guys a kind of a strike approach. \u2018Hey, you get a chance to show your teammates that\u2019s not really who you are.\u2019 When it happens again, then I step in.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe he will learn from it. He takes it seriously. He will move forward in a way of growing from this, and that\u2019s the whole goal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even though Coleman was stuck on the sideline for the matchup against Tampa Bay, McDermott still has faith in the talented wideout and believes he\u2019ll turn things around moving forward, which bodes well for his future in Buffalo if he can adjust his habits.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for Buffalo, the Bills were able to beat a very good Bucs team, with superstar quarterback\u00a0Josh Allen\u00a0outplaying\u00a0Baker Mayfield. Allen may have thrown two interceptions, but he played out of his mind in every other aspect, scoring six total touchdowns.<\/p>\n
As for Coleman, the second-year wide receiver was asked after the game about his getting benched. The Florida State product seems to have gotten the message from McDermott.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust got to be better,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cBetter on my end. \u2026 I\u2019ve\u00a0got to be better, doing what I\u2019m supposed to do, doing the right things. \u2026 Again, mistakes happen. Things happen. Again, I got to be better.\u201d<\/p>\n
This was pretty bad timing for Coleman, as he was targeted eight times, which is the second-highest total since the season opener (11), in the loss to the\u00a0Miami Dolphins. He finished with three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n
Even though the Bills are high on Coleman, the young wideout hasn\u2019t had a great season up to this point, as he\u2019s struggled to take that next step in his sophomore campaign.<\/p>\n
It\u2019ll be interesting to see how Coleman bounces back and whether he\u2019s able to make it up to his teammates and the coaching staff.<\/p>\n
As there were\u00a0rumors around the\u00a0Detroit Lions\u00a0regarding the trade deadline and the moves that could be made, the team would lose against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, 27-24, before any changes could take effect.\u00a0Lions head coach\u00a0Dan Campbell\u00a0would have a brutally honest assessment regarding the tough loss, most holding themselves accountable when speaking to the media.<\/p>\n
After the contest, Campbell would point the finger at himself, highlighting many areas of the game that were not effective, saying that it falls on the head coach to clean it up.\u00a0One facet he mentioned was the number of penalties\u00a0as Detroit recorded 10 in the game that cost the team 76 yards.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did everything we needed to do to lose that game,\u201d Campbell said, according to Eric Woodyard of ESPN. \u201cWe made every critical area you need to at the right time to lose it, a perfect storm. You know, when you don\u2019t play well in all three phases, that falls on the head coach. That\u2019s me. So I did not have them ready coming out of the bye. You know, we weren\u2019t; we made too many critical errors. Man, some of our discipline and penalties caught up to us. We just, and there were some things we were out of sync. We\u2019d never looked comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking at the offensive side of the ball, which gets a lot of attention, the\u00a0Lions\u2019 explosive running back duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery\u00a0combined for only 65 yards. That is no doubt an eye-sore for the team to look at later, as well as the passing game, though\u00a0Jared Goff\u00a0threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just didn\u2019t make enough plays, you know. We had multiple opportunities to set ourselves up to have a chance to win that game, and we made none of theM, really,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cSo that\u2019s, you know, I\u2019m going to clean some stuff up so\u2026and we will, I will. We did have some guys that played pretty well, but it was just too much.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe penalties, you know, the turnovers in inopportune times,\u201d Campbell continued. \u201cReally, really bit us there, you know, defense gets put in us in tough spots. I mean, but again, we expect our defense to get stops, a sudden change. We just did not handle the day well.\u201d<\/p>\n
