Last week, David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs mutually parted ways when the center’s contract was terminated, allowing the player to pursue an opportunity with a new NHL club.<\/p>\n

That became official on Saturday when Kampf signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks. After signing the deal, Kampf posted a farewell message on Instagram:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a pleasure Toronto. A great chapter of my life but the time has come to move on. I gave everything I had to this organization and city and I\u2019ll always be thankful for the opportunity I got here,\u201d Kampf wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to all my teammates I got to spend those years with I wish you guys all the best. Also, special thank you to each and every one of the Leafs staff for taking care of me and my family through the years. Toronto will always have a special place in our hearts. Excited for the future with Canucks!\u201d<\/p>\n

Kampf spent the last four seasons with the Leafs, where he scored 21 goals and added 54 assists in 301 games.<\/p>\n

A combination of injuries and scratches limited the veteran center to 59 games last season. He fell further out of favor during training camp when he didn’t make the season-opening roster. After clearing waivers, Kampf spent time with the AHL Marlies before departing the club a couple of weeks ago to contemplate his future with the organization.<\/p>\n

Kampf left money on the table by walking away from approximately $3 million, including $2.4 million owed in 2025-26. It\u2019s clear the Czech forward wanted to play in the NHL, especially with the Olympics coming up in February, where he has a legitimate chance of representing the nation.<\/p>\n

“This is a huge step for me, but none of it happens without the guys around me. We\u2019ve been battling together, and tonight, it all came together. It\u2019s a great feeling to help the team get the win, and I\u2019m excited to keep building on this.”<\/p>\n

BUFFALO, N.Y.<\/strong> \u2014 Noah Ostlund<\/strong> has arrived in the NHL, and he\u2019s done so with a bang. In what was a breakout performance, the <\/p>\n

Ostlund\u2019s goals were a key factor in Buffalo\u2019s win, with the young star scoring late in the first period<\/strong> and adding a second goal<\/strong> in the third<\/strong> to seal the victory. His impressive performance continues a season where he\u2019s shown <\/p>\n

Ostlund wasn\u2019t alone in the spotlight. <\/p>\n

Jack Roslovic<\/strong> scored the lone goal for the Oilers<\/strong>, while Stuart Skinner<\/strong> stopped 23 shots<\/strong> in a losing effort. Despite some solid performances, the <\/p>\n

Ostlund\u2019s first goal came at <\/p>\n

His two-goal performance adds to an already impressive rookie season. Through eight games<\/strong>, Ostlund has 28 receptions<\/strong> for <\/p>\n
