Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown revealed his unlikely path back to the football for the 2025 NFL season.<\/p>\n
The Dallas Cowboys will have a somber moment Monday night. But there’s good news with the return of players who have missed time with serious injuries. And one of those players, DeMarvion Overshown, revealed his unlikely path back to the field in the 2025 season.<\/p>\n
Overshown will make his season debut as the Cowboys take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football. He said he will probably be emotional, according to ESPN. It has been 343 days since the devastating injury.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m probably going to cry,\u201d Overshown said. \u201cI’m going to hug [associate athletic trainer\/director of rehabilitation Britt Brown] tight. Because, man, he knows every day. Some days, we talked, and it was like, \u2018We’re going to be all right, man. You’re going to be good.’ And what I do? I smiled, and we got our work in. And so if anybody knows, he knows that every day I came here to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Overshown said he wanted his recovery to put him in a position to be available when the Cowboys needed him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just wanted what was best for the team,\u201d Overshown said. \u201cI wanted to be myself again. And [Brown] never let me down. I told him that. I texted him in a long message. I’m like, \u2018I appreciate you for not giving up on me. I appreciate you for not letting me give up on myself.’\u201d<\/p>\n
Overshown\u2019s injury was brutal. The diagnosis included a torn ACL and MCL. Furthermore, the posterior cruciate ligament ripped from the bone. Only the lateral collateral ligament remained intact.<\/p>\n
Can Overshown help transform the Cowboys\u2019 defense? It remains to be seen. The team entered Monday night with a record of 3-5-1. They are currently facing an uphill climb to reach the playoffs.<\/p>\n
Still, Overshown made his way back with the support of Brown, who pushed him along the way.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s tough love,\u201d Overshown said. \u201cI don’t think nobody going to want it more than those guys that work in that training room. Those guys you see every day, that’s their mission to make sure you’re at your best. Forget what they got going on, forget what they get paid. Their mission is to make sure you’re at your best, whatever is in your best interest. Me and Britt, we got that understanding and our hearts have been connected since.\u201d<\/p>\n
New York City police have released new images of the suspect wanted in the shooting of former Vikings defensive back\u00a0Kris Boyd.<\/p>\n
Boyd was shot in the abdomen over the weekend, with the bullet entering through his stomach and lodged in his lung, according to\u00a0ABC 7 New York. The 29-year-old is now said to be in stable condition following the incident.<\/p>\n
Police released new photos of the man suspected of shooting Boyd. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirts, black pants, multi colored sneakers, and carrying a black book bag.<\/p>\n
Many current and former teammates posted messages on social media, reacting to the news. Former Eden Praire standout and current Jets linebacker\u00a0Jermaine Johnson posted the following on Sunday: “Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!”<\/p>\n
Harrison Phillips, who was teammates with when both played for the Vikings and now again on the Jets, posted a prayer.<\/p>\n
“Kris is a fighter and we’re all here for him,” he said.<\/p>\n
Boyd was a seventh-round draft pick by the Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft. During his four seasons in Minnesota, he appeared in 58 games, registering 95 combined tackles, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and three passes defended.<\/p>\n
He was let go by the Vikings following the 2022 season, electing to sign with the Arizona Cardinals in free agency. Boyd appeared in four games for the Cardinals before they released him. He signed with the Texans practice squad shortly after, playing in two games during the remainder of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n
Boyd played in all 17 games for the Texans in 2024, primarily as a special teamer. Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, he joined the Jets in free agency. He landed on injured reserve in early August after sustaining\u00a0 shoulder injury during Jets training camp.<\/p>\n
