The\u00a0Cincinnati Bengals\u00a0lost an important divisional game against the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0on Sunday, dropping them to 3-7. Already without starting quarterback Joe Burrow until\u00a0at least Week 13, Cincinnati may also lose its top wideout, Ja\u2019Marr Chase, for a game.<\/p>\n
In the fourth quarter of the Bengals-Steelers contest, Pittsburgh\u2019s\u00a0Jalen Ramsey<\/strong>\u00a0was ejected for punching Chase. While passing along a video of the incident,\u00a0NFL Network\u2019s Mike Garafolo\u00a0says Ramsey\u2019s transgression appears to have been more of a grab of Chase\u2019s facemask than a true punch. Ramsey and Chase had already been flagged for offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, however, so Ramsey presumably would have been ejected regardless.<\/p>\n Ramsey\u2019s teammate,\u00a0Joey Porter Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>, told reporters after the game that Chase spit on Ramsey, which triggered the mercurial defensive back\u2019s reaction (video link\u00a0via ESPN\u2019s Kimberley A. Martin). Porter acknowledges\u00a0he did not see the alleged expectoration, and Chase denied the claim (via Martin).<\/p>\n But in a video passed along by Fox 19 sports photographer Austin Briski, it appears\u00a0Ramsey was correct\u00a0and that Chase did, in fact, spit on him. Head referee Bill Vinovich said in the postgame pool report that neither he nor any other members of his crew witnessed that part of the altercation (from NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport, via\u00a0Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).<\/p>\n An NFL spokesman told\u00a0ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter\u00a0the league will be reviewing the incident. And, as Garafolo reminds us, league precedent indicates spitting\u00a0does merit a suspension.<\/p>\n Philadelphia Eagles\u00a0DT\u00a0Jalen Carter<\/strong>\u00a0technically was not suspended for spitting on\u00a0Dallas Cowboys\u00a0quarterback\u00a0<\/p>\n The spitting saga overshadowed the fact that the Steelers played half of the game without starting quarterback\u00a0Aaron Rodgers<\/strong>. The soon-to-be 42-year-old sustained a left wrist injury late in the first half and did not return. Per Rapoport, Rodgers\u00a0will undergo an evaluation\u00a0on his wrist on Monday morning.<\/p>\n Backup\u00a0Mason Rudolph<\/strong> completed 12-of-17 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n In a groundbreaking move that has stunned both fans and critics, Seattle Seahawks General Manager John Schneider has announced a $5 ticket day at Lumen Field.
