The Cleveland Browns put Shedeur Sanders into the mix Sunday, and things didn\u2019t go well. And Cam Newton claimed Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski doesn\u2019t want Shedeur Sanders to succeed for the team, according to Newton\u2019s oddly worded comments on First Take, via YouTube.<\/p>\n
Apparently, Newton debunks anything Stefanski says about Sanders.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not think Kevin Stefanski wants Shedeur Sanders to succeed in Cleveland,\u201d Newton said. \u201cThe reason being is, don\u2019t tell me what he said, don\u2019t tell me what he\u2019s saying. I\u2019m going off of actions. Let\u2019s go off actions. The actions is, if I\u2019m Shedeur, or I\u2019m a Shedeur Sanders fan, I would not want him to take the field because that\u2019s going to consistently be the display we\u2019re going to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
Newton took exception to the preparation level of Sanders, who was forced into action against the Ravens because of an injury to starter Dillon Gabriel.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou plan for the what-ifs in this league,\u201d Newton said. \u201cYou don\u2019t know if you\u2019re going to have your quarterback. What about Joe Burrow? So for him to not have any reps, for him to have this be his first time he\u2019s taking team reps where individuals don\u2019t even know your snap count or your cadence? That is like yo bro, what are we doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s really a confusing stance for Newton to take. Is he legitimately saying he thinks Stefanski would tank his own coaching career just to keep Sanders from having NFL success in Cleveland? That doesn\u2019t seem to touch the surface of common sense.<\/p>\n
If Newton wants to criticize Stefanski for not giving Sanders first-team reps, he could do it without saying, \u201cI do not think Kevin Stefanski wants Shedeur Sanders to succeed in Cleveland.\u201d<\/p>\n
That statement makes no sense whatsoever for a league where wins and losses are everything for a coach\u2019s career.<\/p>\n
And if what Newton said had even a salt pebble of validity, why would Stefanski give Sanders first-team reps this week? Here is what Stefanski said about his starting quarterback \u2014 which\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe starter gets the vast majority, obviously, if not the entire majority,\u201d Stefanski said. \u201cWe trust our players. Shedeur is putting in great work on the field, in the meeting room. He\u2019ll be better w\/reps that he\u2019s getting.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dallas Cowboys’ star\u00a0CeeDee Lamb\u00a0added a major milestone to his fast-growing and impressive r\u00e9sum\u00e9 on\u00a0Monday Night Football, cementing himself deeper into Cowboys history\u00a0during the team\u2019s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n
Entering Week 11,\u00a0the Cowboys were desperate to snap out of\u00a0their shaky season skid at 3-5-1, and Lamb was once again expected to anchor the offense\u2019s rhythm alongside signal caller Dak Prescott.<\/p>\n
Before kickoff, Lamb sat at 531 career receptions, tied with franchise icon Dez Bryant. However, the tie didn\u2019t last long, and with 14:51 remaining in the second quarter, Prescott hit Lamb wide open in the end zone for an 18-yard score, marked Lamb\u2019s first catch of the night, and the moment that pushed him ahead of Bryant for third-most receptions in Cowboys history.<\/p>\n
NFL+\u00a0captured the moment\u00a0on X, posting, \u201cCeeDee Lamb passes Dez Bryant for the 3rd-most receptions in Cowboys franchise history (532).\u201d<\/p>\n
What makes the feat more impressive is the pace of this feat, as Lamb reached 532 receptions in just 88 games, far quicker than Bryant\u2019s 133. He now trails only Michael Irvin (750) and Jason Witten (1,215), both Dallas legends who defined eras of Cowboys football.<\/p>\n
His touchdown\u00a0also carried another layer of intrigue. According to Dallas Cowboys Public Relations, the score marked his 40th career receiving touchdown:<\/p>\n
\u201cWith that 18-yard touchdown reception, CeeDee Lamb reached 40 career receiving touchdowns. He is the third-fastest Cowboys player to reach 40 touchdown receptions, behind only Bob Hayes (48 games) and Dez Bryant (59 games).\u201d<\/p>\n
When\u00a0the Cowboys opened their first offensive series without Lamb or George Pickens\u00a0on the field, there was only one pertinent question in viewers’ minds: why? Soon after the game, head coach Brian Schottenheimer\u00a0explained the decision, saying both players were benched due to minor issues during the week.<\/p>\n
According to The Athletic’s Jon Machota, Schottenheimer briefed during the post-game press conference that \u201cthere were \u2018a couple things missed’ by both Lamb and Pickens going into the game.\u201d<\/p>\n
