The decision came after fierce debate, public outrage, and mounting pressure from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.<\/p>\n

The controversy began shortly after the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was gunned down while speaking at Utah Valley University. In a televised interview hours afterward, Omar delivered harsh criticism of Kirk\u2019s past statements, accusing him of having stoked divisive rhetoric and labeling some people mourning him as hypocritical for overlooking what she called his history of inflammatory remarks.<\/p>\n

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson weighed in, calling Omar\u2019s rhetoric \u201cbeyond the pale\u201d and claiming that such behavior \u201cthreatens the dignity and decorum of this institution.\u201d According to White House sources, pressure began mounting overnight from both constituents and high\u2011ranking politicians.<\/p>\n

By late Monday, a bipartisan coalition\u2014though heavily tilted toward Republicans\u2014had convinced enough members to support the expulsion resolution. In a rare move, the full House voted 358\u201158 to expel Omar. She will immediately lose her seat in Congress, and her committee positions \u2014 particularly on the Budget and Education committees \u2014 are terminated.<\/p>\n

According to local authorities, a shooter ambushed two firefighters Sunday afternoon, killing one and badly injuring another.<\/p>\n

After being sent to a wildfire close to a well-known outdoor recreation area in Coeur d\u2019Alene, Idaho, on Sunday afternoon, a number of firemen were shot by an anonymous shooter.<\/p>\n

According to audio that\u00a0CNN\u00a0was able to get, a firefighter hurriedly requested for assistance over the radio, telling EMS,\u00a0\u201cWe need law enforcement up here immediately.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Firefighters responded to reports of a small brush fire at 1:30 p.m., which is when the incident started. Shots came from the bushes around half an hour later. Apparently, an unidentified attacker had been waiting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear to me that this fire was set intentionally to draw us in,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0the firefighter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSend law enforcement right now, there\u2019s an active shooter zone,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody\u2019s shot up here.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to\u00a0ABC7, Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris revealed during a news briefing that the two people murdered are thought to have been firefighters.<\/p>\n

The International Association of Fire Fighters, the organisation that represents firefighters, said in a statement\u00a0posted on X\u00a0that members were singled out while responding to a fire in Coeur d\u2019Alene, Idaho.<\/p>\n

The post reads,\u00a0\u201cWhile responding to a fire earlier today in Coeur d\u2019Alene, Idaho, IAFF members were ambushed in a heinous act of violence.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It goes on to say,\u00a0\u201cTwo of our brothers were killed by a sniper, and a third brother remains in surgery. Please keep them, their families, and law enforcement in your prayers.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris disclosed the hazardous and tight circumstances his staff is working in during a press conference on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are actively taking sniper fire,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0he stated, emphasizing the severity of the unfolding crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a very, very fresh situation,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Norris added.<\/p>\n

A SWAT team later found a dead man on the mountain with a gun close by, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff\u2019s Office. It is thought that the man is the culprit in the fatal shooting.<\/p>\n

The terrifying prospect that the fire was started on purpose to trick emergency personnel into falling into a lethal trap is being looked into by authorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking into whether the fire may have been used to draw first responders to the scene,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Kootenai County Sheriff\u2019s Lt. Jeff Howard told ABC News.<\/p>\n

Ed Davis, the former commissioner of police in Boston, told CNN that receiving a report about firefighters being shot at is\u00a0\u201cthe worst case scenario\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>for law enforcement.<\/p>\n

According to him, the\u00a0\u201cchilling audio\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was an obvious indication that individuals needed rapid rescue and that lives were in imminent danger.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou feel for the firefighters that were calling that in,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Davis said,\u00a0\u201cbecause there were literally people that were bleeding to death on the ground, and they were pinned down behind their fire truck. So very troubling situation, almost like a battlefield scene.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

A DHS official informed ABC News that the FBI has joined the probe and that the Department of Homeland Security has also been briefed.<\/p>\n

The shelter-in-place order that had been in effect for the Canfield Mountain Trailhead and the surrounding regions has been withdrawn. However, because of the current fire situation, locals are still advised to stay vigilant.<\/p>\n
