MONTREAL \u2014 Saturday night at the Bell Centre was supposed to be electric. Instead, it became a violent reminder of just how quickly the Montreal Canadiens are spiraling. After blood spilled, fights erupted, and countless chances slipped away, the Habs fell 3-2 to the Boston Bruins \u2014 their <\/p>\n

From the opening faceoff, this wasn\u2019t just a game \u2014 it was a war.<\/p>\n

Just four minutes<\/em> into the game, two separate fights broke out, setting the tone for a night of pure physicality. The Bell Centre roared, the gloves dropped, and the rivalry instantly came alive.<\/p>\n

But only one team used the chaos to their advantage.<\/p>\n

The Bruins struck first when David Pastrnak completely fooled Samuel Montembeault with a perfect fake shot, feeding Marat Khusnutdinov through heavy traffic for a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Montreal pushed back but continued a frustrating trend: wasting golden power-play chances<\/strong>. Despite earning a full 5-on-3, they couldn\u2019t convert \u2014 a theme that would haunt them all night.<\/p>\n

Their lone bright moment came shorthanded when Jake Evans<\/strong> finished a beautiful 2-on-1 to tie the game 1-1 after the opening period.<\/p>\n

The second period unraveled quickly for Montreal.<\/p>\n

Moments later came the most terrifying scene of the night: Noah Dobson\u2019s rocket shot struck Charlie McAvoy directly in the face<\/strong>, dropping the Bruins defenseman instantly as blood poured onto the ice. He was sent immediately to a nearby hospital \u2014 a chilling reminder of the brutality of this rivalry.<\/p>\n

And as if scripted, Montreal then took a penalty of their own.
Boston punished them instantly.<\/p>\n

Viktor Arvidsson<\/strong> blasted home his 200th career goal<\/strong>, making it 3-1 and silencing the Bell Centre.<\/p>\n

Cole Caufield gave the Habs life late in the second with a slick finish to cut the deficit to 3-2.<\/p>\n

But as he admitted afterward, the team simply isn\u2019t closing when it matters.<\/p>\n

The final period saw both teams trade dangerous chances, but only Montembeault kept his team alive with a string of crucial saves.<\/p>\n

Still, the Habs couldn\u2019t find the tying goal.<\/p>\n

Lane Hutson<\/strong> stood out with three blocked shots and heavy minutes, while Mike Matheson<\/strong> and Alexandre Carrier<\/strong> once again threw their bodies in front of everything.<\/p>\n

Juraj Slafkovsky<\/strong>, however, struggled badly \u2014 playing timid, losing battles, and ultimately being removed from the power play<\/em>, despite leading the team in PP scoring earlier this season.<\/p>\n

That decision spoke volumes.<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t just another loss.
It was a statement.<\/p>\n

The Habs are slipping \u2014 offensively, mentally, and structurally. Even in a game full of emotion, physicality, and scoring chances, they couldn\u2019t execute when it mattered.<\/p>\n

And Caufield\u2019s words after the game captured the mood of the entire fanbase:<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re getting chances and not finishing \u2014 that\u2019s on us. Nights like this hurt.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tarasenko, 33, has two goals and ten points in 18 games this year for the Wild.\u00a0He missed Saturday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks\u00a0with a lower-body injury and will not play again on Sunday.<\/p>\n
