The Flyers reassigned defenseman Adam Ginning to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on a conditioning loan.<\/p>\n

The Flyers sent defenseman Adam Ginning back down to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

Ginning played five games so far for the Flyers, but he\u2019s hasn\u2019t had action in a while outside of practices. He was dressed fpr the opening four games of the season with Philadelphia before being a healthy scratch. His last game was Oct. 25 against the Islanders. He hasn\u2019t registered a point yet in those five games, but did see a brief amount of time on the top pairing opposite Travis Sanheim for a game. He played 20:33 against Florida in the Flyers\u2019 home opener but overall averaged 15:20 over the five games. He also had two shots against Florida in the season opener but didn\u2019t register any since then.<\/p>\n

The conditioning loan enables Ginning to go down to the American Hockey League without having to clear waivers. He\u2019ll be down with the Phantoms for at least 14 days but should see some action. Lehigh Valley has a busy week ahead as they play the Rochester Americans at home tomorrow night before hitting the road for a game Friday against Providence and a game the following night against Hartford. Those three games should allow Ginning to get some playing time after basically only practicing the last three weeks.<\/p>\n

The move also seems to indicate that Emil Andrae and Noah Juulsen are going to be Philadelphia\u2019s third pairing for the next little while until Rasmus Ristolainen possibly gets closer to returning. And the Ginning move might be a stopgap for the Phantoms given the rather whirlwind of activity on their own blueline. As reported yesterday, Oliver Bonk was practicing yesterday by himself at the Flyers\u2019 practice facility. Bonk has been out since Philadelphia\u2019s training camp when he had an upper body injury. Meanwhile, the Flyers also sent Dennis Gilbert to Ottawa in exchange for Maxence Guenette. Guenette, who requested a trade away from the Ottawa organization earlier this season, hasn\u2019t played a game this year. So it\u2019s probably safe to say Guenette might need some time to get in game shape, hence placing Ginning back with the Phantoms enables that to happen. It\u2019s doubtful Guenette is going to be rushed into the lineup, at least not until he\u2019s ready.<\/p>\n

In related news, Ristolainen also was skating yesterday at the Flyers practice facility. Ristolainen hasn\u2019t played this season but given he\u2019s skating again it\u2019s conceivable he\u2019s only a few weeks away from returning.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bit of a challenging situation here, with the surplus of defensemen that the Flyers have in the organization at both the NHL and AHL levels, but they\u2019re doing what they can to keep a rotation going, to find minutes where they can for everyone, but it\u2019s going to be a continued uphill battle as we go.<\/p>\n

Buffalo Sabres fans, it\u2019s time for a reality check. While the team has enjoyed a modest two-game win streak, which includes impressive victories over the Detroit Red Wings and the high-powered Edmonton Oilers, there\u2019s no time to celebrate just yet. The Sabres remain one of the worst teams in the NHL and are still facing a daunting climb to secure a playoff spot.<\/p>\n

On Monday, young goaltender Colten Ellis<\/strong> delivered a stellar performance, stopping 32 shots and posting a .970 save percentage against the Oilers. Rookie Noah Ostlund<\/strong> also shined, scoring twice in the 5-1 victory. But despite these exciting individual performances, the Sabres’ playoff hopes hinge on more than just one or two standout players.<\/p>\n

“The Big Show” Moment?<\/strong> Sure. But Can They Keep It Up?<\/p>\n

For Buffalo to break its 14-year<\/em> playoff drought, they need a full team effort every night. Tage Thompson<\/strong> and <\/p>\n

The road ahead is tough. After games against the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks\u2014two teams the Sabres are expected to beat\u2014their schedule takes a sharp turn into difficult territory. Matchups against the <\/p>\n

The Sabres need to show resilience, consistency, and the ability to string together five- and six-game win streaks<\/strong> if they\u2019re going to remain in playoff contention. One or two big wins isn\u2019t going to be enough. <\/p>\n
