Life is unpredictable. The truth is that we are never aware of the obstacles and challenges that can get on our way, but what we should never forget is that we must never stop fighting and believing that things would eventually get a turn for the better.<\/p>\n
Chelsea Hough couldn\u2019t wait to meet her baby. Her pregnancy was a normal one, and just as she reached 36 weeks, she gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Karson Jax Hough.<\/p>\n
During the first moments of his life, Karson resembled a perfectly healthy baby, but then, all of a sudden, his heart beats slowed down and his heart stopped. Doctors tried skin to skin contact with his mother and that\u2019s when his heart started beating again, but that didn\u2019t last long. The sweet bundle of joy was in need of a ventilator to help his heart work and to facilitate his breathing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only way to describe what has happened is that this beautiful baby boy has suffered two very rare conditions that are completely unrelated to one another. One being unidentifiable as to a cause,\u201d Karson\u2019s Nana, Lisa Hough,\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the doctors, the chances of survival were slim. After some time, they advised the family to switch Karson off life support.<\/p>\n
They considered that carefully, and decided it would be for the best to do what doctors advised. The family united in prayer after doctors told them they would only have around 10 minutes with Karson before he passes away.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we witnessed a miracle!!\u201d Lisa Hough wrote. \u201cWe were given 10 minutes after withdrawing intensive care and the ventilator and told he would not breath on his own and to expect his heart to stop within those 10 minutes\u2026 Well God and Karson had other plans!<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure why I ever thought we were so undeserving of a miracle.. and I\u2019m not sure how long we have with him, but we have him now. And now we will take,\u201d Lisa said.<\/p>\n
Once home, Karson thrived. His weight is healthy and his heart rates are stable. The Glycine levels in his body have dropped dramatically and he\u2019s beating the odds each and every day.<\/p>\n

A 25-year-old La Mesa police officer, Lauren Craven, was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle while helping crash victims on Interstate 8 in California. Authorities said the incident occurred around 10:24 p.m. on October 20, when Craven stopped to assist two motorists involved in a collision near Fairmount Avenue. While rendering aid, she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Despite immediate efforts from emergency crews, she died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Craven had been returning to La Mesa from San Diego Central Jail when the accident happened. The La Mesa Police Department described her actions as \u201cselfless,\u201d saying her final moments reflected her lifelong dedication to protecting others. \u201cOfficer Craven\u2019s tenacity, courage, and compassion inspired her peers and strengthened her community,\u201d the department wrote in a public statement. \u201cHer legacy of service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n
Craven joined the force in February 2024 and served in the Patrol Division. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and no further details about the other drivers have been released.
