Left-wing radio host Charlamagne tha God admitted on Monday that Democrats are losing the messaging battle over the ongoing Schumer Shutdown.<\/p>\n
\u201cI read a poll this morning that said, you know, a lot of Americans are starting to blame Democrats for the government shutdown,\u201d Charlamagne said to MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on her podcast, \u201cThe Best People.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it\u2019s just simply because Republicans are better at messaging than Democrats will ever be,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t believe Democrats still haven\u2019t figured out how to message,\u201d Charlamagne continued. \u201cBut right now, at a time when American people are hurting, and they can point directly to the Trump administration to say, earlier in the year, it was DOGE cutting all the federal jobs. Now they are in charge of every branch of government, and it\u2019s the government shutdown and all of y\u2019all are losing jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Schumer Shutdown has entered its third week, making it the third-longest government shutdown in U.S. history.<\/p>\n
To date, it has cost American taxpayers more than $8 billion.<\/p>\n
Democrats have refused to negotiate on a temporary funding bill, insisting that expanded Obamacare benefits must be secured before reopening the government.<\/p>\n
Those expanded subsidies would allow states to fund healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n
\u201cRepublicans have beat it in people\u2019s head that it\u2019s Democrats\u2019 fault, and Democrats are taking credit for it,\u201d Charlamagne said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re saying, \u2018No, yeah, we are the reason the government is shut down, but we\u2019re doing it because we didn\u2019t want your healthcare prices to get jacked up.\u2019 So they\u2019re taking a stand, but it\u2019s hurting a whole lot of other people while this stand is being took,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Charlamagne also criticized MSNBC, accusing the network of dismissing legitimate voter concerns about the southern border.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, you can\u2019t just ignore people\u2019s criticisms of the border and chalk it up to MAGA messaging,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ll never forget when MSNBC did that to me. And MSNBC did that to me based off me listening to people, me listening to people in New York City, listening to people in Chicago, activists in Chicago, and them telling me what their issues with the border were.\u201d<\/p>\n

Late last week, the Senate voted against reopening the federal government for the 13th time, extending the shutdown.<\/p>\n
The stalemate follows the \u201cNo Kings\u201d rallies held in Washington and cities across the country, where Republicans expressed optimism that a breakthrough could be near.<\/p>\n
However, there are few signs of progress, with analysts warning the shutdown could extend into a fourth week and possibly November.<\/p>\n
In remarks on the Senate floor Monday, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said the Democratic position \u201cremains the same.\u201d<\/p>\n
Republicans have said no negotiations will occur until the government is funded and operating.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is truly amazing how a program Democrats created and tax credits that they chose to sunset have now become the Republicans\u2019 crisis,\u201d Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDemocrats created ObamaCare \u2014 alone. They implemented the enhanced tax credits \u2014 alone. And they chose a sunset date for those tax credits \u2014 alone,\u201d Thune continued. \u201cDemocrats are solely \u2014 solely \u2014 responsible for the ObamaCare tax credit cliff, and yet they\u2019re trying to pin this disaster on Republicans while at the very same time they\u2019re asking Republicans to bail them out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really kind of ironic,\u201d Thune added when talking to reporters about the current situation and what he expects to happen next<\/p>\n
