The past several weeks has been brutal for the Packers. Nothing has been easy or consistent. This week became a I do not care how you win this game, just win this game. This sentiment rang true on Sunday, as the Packers biggest opponent turned out to be themselves.
Injuries ran rampant, as they usually do at MetLife Stadium. Josh Jacobs is looking to be out for a couple of weeks. Jordan Love was out for a series and Malik Willis took over and led a touchdown drive. Receivers continuously dropped the ball, extra points were missed.
Overall, the main goal was to get in the win column, and the Packers did just that. Matt LaFleur had a solid game plan, a much-needed bounce back for him. Jordan Love prevailed despite the drops and led this team with poise and control.
Despite ample opportunities to do so, the Packers finally overcame their biggest hurdle, which has been themselves. This was not a pretty win, but they did what they needed to do. All week, Matt LaFluer and Jordan Love were spotlighted in the national media after underwhelming performances versus the Eagles.
Both LaFleur and Love should have put to rest the negative conversations for at least one more week, and rightfully so. Jordan Love put on a performance that showed just who he is. Calm, consistent, steady and a proven leader. His throw to Christian Watson to win the game was a spectacular throw and catch.
Watson has proven that he has earned the right to be the first read. His continued improvement impresses me. His two touchdowns might have been some of his best contested catches as a Packer.
Meanwhile, the defense allowed their first opening half touchdown of the entire season. It felt like it was going to be one of those games. However, the defense continued to pressure Jameis Winston. Winston threw an interception, and Micah Parsons had the game sealing sack and fumble.
Brandon McManus ended up out for this game with the same injury he has been dealing with. Of course, the kicker who kicks the franchise record then misses an extra point. While winds were a major factor for the kicking game, extra points still are expected to be made.
Now, the Packers face their division foe in the Vikings. The Vikings are coming off a loss to the can’t lose Bears, who continue to show up and win despite adversity. The Vikings will be hungry to get back into the win column. It is up to the Packers to continue to win and overcome themselves in crucial moments.
Josh Jacobs suffered a knee injury in Packers vs. Giants.
Josh Jacobs watched on as Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers ended their two-game drought in Week 11, jumping to 6-3-1 on the 2025 NFL season after a 27-20 win over Jameis Winston and the New York Giants. Now, the Packers will turn their focus to an important NFC North matchup in Week 12, returning to Lambeau Field to host the Minnesota Vikings.
Jacobs was off to a solid start against the Giants, tallying seven carries for 40 yards. However, the former Alabama Crimson Tide running back was forced to leave the game in the first half due to a knee injury, leaving him out for the remainder of the game.
While there was concern that Jacobs’ injury could be season-ending, further tests showed his knee was “structurally sound” and did not require surgery, ruling it a knee contusion. That left the Packers running back day-to-day, with his status still uncertain for the matchup against the Vikings.
But on Monday, LaFleur did not rule out Jacobs for Week 12 against the NFC North rival, adding that Green Bay is unlikely to place him on injured reserve, a move that would sideline him for at least four games.
“Packers HC Matt LaFleur told reporters that RB Josh Jacobs ‘potentially’ could be available to play Sunday vs. the Vikings despite his knee contusion, but Green Bay has no plans to place its star running back on injured reserve,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on X.
Losing a player like Jacobs would certainly be a blow for the Packers. He has led the team in touchdowns in both of his seasons in Green Bay, including 15 in 2024 and 11 so far this year. LaFleur and the Packers will host the Vikings on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
