"GOLDEN BACHELOR DRAMA: MEL & PEG CLAP BACK AT RUNNER-UP CINDY AFTER SHOCKING COMMENTS!

Mel Owens Opens Up About His Final Decision and His Relationship with Peg Munson on The Golden Bachelor Finale

The dramatic season finale of The Golden Bachelor saw Mel Owens choose Peg Munson over Cindy Cullers, but the journey to that final decision was anything but straightforward. The 66-year-old former NFL linebacker, who had been searching for love on

While Mel’s journey culminated with Peg, it was Cindy’s decision to self-eliminate that set the stage for a whirlwind finale full of tough emotions and raw honesty.

Throughout the season, Cindy formed a strong connection with Mel, and it seemed like their love story was one of the most promising. But when it came time for the Fantasy Suite dates in Antigua, things took a turn. During their final date, Cindy, who had deep feelings for Mel, confronted him about his hesitations around commitment.

“I’m just disappointed that you got that far without helping me understand that you weren’t ready for a commitment,” Cindy told Mel. “I kind of want my guy to feel like he got struck by lightning and can’t live without me.” Despite their connection, Mel was unable to reassure Cindy and, in a heartbreaking moment, she chose to walk away from the relationship, leaving the show on her own terms.

“I have a choice too,” Cindy remarked during the After the Final Rose segment, adding that while she wanted Mel to be happy, she realized that they weren’t aligned in what they wanted from the future. “I was in the wrong stadium,” she said of Mel’s analogy about finishing the game.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Mel opened up about why he couldn’t offer Cindy a proposal and why he gave Peg a promise ring instead of an engagement ring. Mel clarified that he wasn’t ready for a commitment like Cindy was seeking, and he wasn’t going to rush into something just to satisfy the expectations of the show.

“I’m committed, just not to her,” Mel stated bluntly. “My feelings were stronger for Peg, much stronger.” He added that while Cindy wanted a quick resolution, he felt they were on different timelines, with Cindy wanting answers right away and Mel wanting to take the time to build a genuine connection before making such a significant commitment.

“We weren’t on the same page,” Mel explained. “She wanted the ending before the journey was over. I wasn’t going to give her the answers before we even finished the journey.”

Peg, who had a much more laid-back approach to their relationship, was more aligned with Mel’s pace. During their one-on-one time in the Fantasy Suite, the couple had a candid conversation about their future. Peg expressed that she wasn’t looking for a “knight in shining armor” but rather a committed partner who was willing to take the time to build a solid foundation. Mel echoed these sentiments, saying he didn’t want to rush into an engagement, preferring instead to see where their relationship naturally led.

Peg praised Mel for his honesty throughout their relationship, especially when it came to the pace at which they were moving. “He doesn’t have integrity, he is integrity,” Peg shared, emphasizing how Mel always stayed true to his feelings and never told anyone something he didn’t mean. “He’s not going to say ‘I love you’ when he doesn’t feel it,” she said, admiring his authenticity.

While Mel and Peg’s decision not to get engaged may have left some fans disappointed, they are in no rush to make things official. As they continue to explore their relationship outside of the

Peg spoke about the simple joys of their relationship, looking forward to spending time together in everyday life. “We’re going to spend time with our families, go to the gym, travel, watch football, cook, barbecue… just normal everyday life,” she shared, revealing how their bond is centered on shared values and an organic approach to love.

Mel echoed her sentiments, saying they were excited to let their relationship grow naturally. “We’re going to just do what we do and have fun, and then it’s going to grow from there,” he said.

As the season finale of The Golden Bachelor comes to a close, Mel and Peg’s future remains open-ended. While they’re not engaged, their mutual respect and desire to take things slow could set the foundation for a lasting relationship. As they continue to explore what’s next, viewers are left wondering whether this promise ring will eventually lead to a proposal, or if Mel’s hesitation will continue to shape their love story.

For Cindy, her decision to leave when she did was a bold one, but one that she stands by. Her refusal to settle for a man who wasn’t ready for the same kind of commitment she was looking for has earned her admiration from fans, with many seeing her as the true winner of the season.

Only time will tell if Mel and Peg’s connection will deepen into a lasting love story. For now, their journey continues, and fans are eager to see where it leads.

In Los Angeles, Nick’s on the phone with Victor, back at the ranch, telling him that Noah’s left the hospital against advice and dismissed his guard. He reveals that his son has been having an affair with Sienna Bacall. If they’re not together, it’s possible that he’s in real trouble. Victor promises to relay this to Michael Baldwin.

Victor learns from Nick that Matt Clark is back… he wants revenge on him and Sharon and is using their son to get it. The Mustache is stunned to hear that Matt is Mitch. They told Noah, but he kicked them out of the room and now he’s missing. Mentioning that Detective Burrows may be on Matt’s payroll, Victor will have Baldwin look into them both.

Nikki, meanwhile, spots Lily at Society and they have an exchange about Noah. Lily steps away to take a call from Mattie, and admits she’s been talking to her dad, who is trying to be the man they remember. Unfortunately, she says, it ended on a more

complicated note.

At that very moment, in Phyllis’ suite, she grabs Ashby and says she wants this. Doffing his shirt, Cane begins undressing her and they keep making out. They wrestle and throw each other up against the door before falling onto the bed to continue the grappling.

After sex, Phyllis quips, “Slow burn becomes big fire.” They discuss the event being a matter of “when” and not “if,” spar verbally, and joke. Cane asks, “What happens next?” She shrugs. That’s up to him. They banter about the past, and Cane invites her to the shower. When she heads in before him, his expression makes it clear that he’s been play acting. Find out why here.

Cane searches the room while keeping up a chat with Phyllis, already in the shower. Finding her laptop, he tries to guess her password. When she calls out and he doesn’t come, Phyllis creeps out, sees what he’s doing, and returns to the shower, warning it’s getting cold. Cane closes the laptop, sighing, and joins her.

Back at Society, Jack meets up with Nikki, who gripes about Cane. Jack worries that he’ll reel Lily back in. Across the room, Lily tries to convince her daughter that her father’s not all bad. It doesn’t work.

Meanwhile, Jack complains to Nikki about Victor… will she stand by him if he damages people she cares about? At some point, she’s complicit. Nikki vows she’ll do what she can to keep him from harming Jabot. Jack needs to know that the company his father built will last, and warns that Victor better be careful this doesn’t all come back to bite him. They’d both like to have another truce between their families.

At the ranch, Victor welcomes Lily, who asks point blank if he stole Cane’s program and notes how relaxed he seems, concluding that she’s right. The Mustache is surprised to hear that she’s grateful… but warns that the program is very dangerous and should be destroyed. Using it would be very evil. Victor assures her he wouldn’t go after Winters Inc., but admits Jabot is a different story.

Adam arrives, so Lily leaves. Victor and Adam marvel that she’s somehow sympathetic to Ashby now. Talk turns to Matt Clark, and Victor fills his younger son in on the maniac. The Mustache wants him to compile a list of Clark’s crimes and find out how he became Mitch Bacall. Adam offers to back up Nick in L.A., which pleases Victor, though he tells him to hold off. Adam then updates Victor that Billy and Sally’s funding is coming from Jill.

In Los Angeles, Nick and Sharon reconvene in a hotel room to update each other. They’re sure Noah and Sienna are together… or Matt has one or both of them and he wants them to pay. Nick decides to get a hold of the cop. When Burrow calls him back, he arranges to meet but tells Sharon she can’t go with him.

At the ranch, Victor marvels at Jill backing Billy’s Abbott Communications. Adam wonders if Victor can convince her to cut the funding… then they can sabotage the launch. Victor muses, “While the Abbotts deal with the fallout, I’m going after Jabot.”

At the Club, Lily looks at her phone, thinking about contacting Cane as she flashes back to him saying he’ll do anything to get her back. She decides against it and heads for the door, just in time to see Cane and Phyllis come down the stairs together holding hands.
