Kansas Mayor Charged For Allegedly Voting As Noncitizen in Several Elections psss

Kansas leaders charged Joe Ceballos, the mayor of a small city in rural Kansas, with a crime on Wednesday. They say he voted in several elections even though he is not a U.S. citizen.

Scott Schwab, the Secretary of State for Kansas, and Kris Kobach, the Attorney General for Kansas, both Republicans who were elected, said they had filed six charges against Ceballos, a legal permanent resident from Mexico, for voting in elections in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Ceballos used to be a city councilman and is now the mayor of Coldwater, Fox News noted.

States are obligated by law to have ways to regularly clean up their voter registration lists, which are also called voter rolls. Kobach, a longstanding immigration hawk and ally of President Donald Trump, said that the procedure includes using outside databases to look for noncitizens, but that it is not foolproof.

“Noncitizen voting is a real problem. It is not something that happens once in a decade. It is something that happens fairly frequently,” Kobach said, echoing the broader sentiments of Republicans who say voter fraud is a pressing issue.

According to the lawsuit that Fox News Digital looked at, Ceballos’ allegations, which include lying under oath and voting when he wasn’t qualified, could get him more than five years in prison.

Kobach, who used to be the Secretary of State for Kansas, has a lengthy history of calling for stricter voter ID legislation and tougher immigration enforcement.

He lost a high-profile federal case in 2018 after trying to enforce a state rule that said voters had to provide proof of U.S. citizenship when they registered to vote.

A court said it went beyond what was needed to prove citizenship, which is against federal election laws.

The court concluded at the time that the state law could not “be justified by the scant evidence of noncitizen voter fraud before and after the law was passed.”

Kobach didn’t say how state officials found out that the mayor and former city councilman are supposedly not a citizens, but he did say that investigators have “unassailable evidence” against Ceballos.

Kobach argued that city officials, such as mayors, must also be U.S. citizens. The attorney general said this was “worth noting” but not a crime. On Election Day, Ceballos was on the ballot for re-election, but the official results have not yet been confirmed.

“In large part, our system right now is based on trust, trust that when the person signs the registration or signs the poll books saying that he is a qualified elector or that he is a United States citizen, that the person is telling the truth,” Kobach said. “In this case, we allege that Mr. Ceballos violated that trust.”

Kobach and Schwab claimed they have started using a federal government database that enables them to verify voter rolls against immigration information. They think this will help them find more voting irregularities.

Ceballos will be in court for the first time on December 3.

This comes amid the federal government shutdown, which is approaching almost 40 days

The Democratic House and Senate leaders sent a letter to President Trump on Wednesday morning, a day after elections nationwide saw their party pick up gains in blue regions, demanding “bipartisan” talks to reopen the government.

The letter comes after most Senate Democrats have voted 14 times against a GOP-led spending bill to reopen the government.

Meanwhile, a new report suggests that key elements of a potential deal to end the federal government shutdown are beginning to take shape — though it remains uncertain when, or even if, all sides will reach an agreement.

According to Axios, the proposed “three-legged” plan includes three main components: a Senate vote on Affordable Care Act tax credits, a short-term continuing resolution to give negotiators more time to finalize a full-year budget for the fiscal year that began October 1, and a separate vote to fund military construction, the legislative branch, and agriculture programs.

Before Senate Democrats forced the government into a shutdown, the House had already passed a bill to keep it funded through November 21.

If the Senate now strikes a deal to reopen the government, the House will have to return to session and approve the measure, extending the funding deadline in the process.

Senator John Kennedy is once again cutting through Washington’s theatrics with brutal honesty.

The Louisiana Republican accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of staging political drama instead of doing his job to reopen the government.

In an interview with Fox Business host Larry Kudlow, Kennedy described the shutdown as a “political performance,” not a genuine policy disagreement.

He said Schumer is more concerned with keeping up appearances for his party’s radical wing than with serving the American people.

“It will end eventually,” Kennedy said, “when Senator Schumer goes to six or eight of his members and Democrats and says, ‘Do me a favor. Vote to open it back up. I may have to criticize you. I’m not going to vote with you, but I need a way out of this.’”

Kennedy made clear that Schumer’s priority isn’t compromise — it’s saving face.

“He’s gonna tell ‘em, ‘Now, look, I gotta vote no. And I gotta dogcuss you a little bit. We gotta have some play acting and make this look good. And then we come out of the shutdown,’” Kennedy said, describing how Schumer will secretly orchestrate the outcome he publicly opposes.

According to Kennedy, the government shutdown is less about real disagreements and more about political optics. Schumer, he said, is acting out a script to appease the far-left members of his caucus — what Kennedy calls the “moon wing” of the Democratic Party.

“I know him. Well, this shutdown is not about policy. It’s about politics,” Kennedy said.

“And Senator Schumer, this is what’s going on. He is trying to get the moon wing, the socialist wing of the Democratic Party, which is in control, to love him. And they will never love him.”

That blunt assessment paints a damning picture of the Democratic leadership. Schumer, Kennedy argues, is beholden to extremists who refuse to compromise, even at the expense of the country.

The Louisiana senator said Schumer’s strategy is simple: keep the government closed until Republicans and President Trump agree to hand over billions in new spending — spending that Democrats will control. “What he’s saying,” Kennedy explained, “is we’re going to keep government shut down until you Republicans and President Trump give the Democrats $1.5 trillion, and they’re going to tell us how to spend it.”

Kennedy ridiculed the idea that Schumer is fighting for “the people.” In his view, Schumer is fighting for power, money, and media attention — and the shutdown is just another stage for him to perform on.

“He’s boning if it looks contrived,” Kennedy warned. “He can’t look like he’s having a mutiny.” That’s why, Kennedy says, Schumer must choreograph his next steps carefully, pretending to fight while quietly coordinating votes behind the scenes.

Kennedy’s description of this “play acting” matches what many Americans have long suspected: that the partisan battles on the Senate floor are largely theater designed to manipulate the public.

Schumer, Kennedy said, is obsessed with being seen as strong by the socialist faction of his party — even though that same faction will never accept him. “He’d be better off doing what he did back in March and just calling it like he saw it and keeping government open,” Kennedy added.

The senator’s comments came after Schumer led most Democrats in voting down the Republicans’ spending bill earlier in the week, prolonging the shutdown. Kennedy said that move was pure political posturing.

Tangled fur can be quite distressing for stray and abandoned animals. However, a simple haircut can make a world of difference.

Recently, a dog with matted fur received a transformation that revitalized his life.

On July 16, the South Plains SPCA posted about what they described as the “worst case of dog neglect we have ever encountered.” A 6-year-old dog was found with severely matted, thick fur and in very poor condition.

According to the SPCA, “The dog has rotten skin spots, hair matted to the skin so badly that it has become ingrown, and his nails are 2 inches long.”

Kim Moyers, president of the South Plains SPCA, told KLBK-TV, “His hair growth was about five years of matting. It’s just terrible that he was likely seen in various places and ignored. I can’t understand how he wasn’t noticed roaming around in such a condition. I’ve never encountered anything like him. It was shocking.”

His matted fur led to him being named Matt at the South Plains SPCA. Despite his dire situation, they chose to help him and provide him with a second chance.

Matt cried out in agony when they cut his hair, prompting them to sedate him. They untangled a collar and leash from his fur and shaved off three pounds of matted hair after five years of neglect.

“His fur was filled with thousands of goathead stickers, sticks, grass, and even beetles. He has serious bruises on his body due to the tightness of his fur against his skin,” the SPCA reported. The dog was anemic and started on medication, but fortunately, he tested negative for heartworm and tick diseases (as ticks couldn’t penetrate his thick fur.)

Matt faces a long road to recovery and will require dental treatment once his blood work is stable.

Matt’s life has significantly improved after the removal of all that filthy fur, and he now resembles a completely new dog:

“After one of our professional groomers — who also fosters for the SPCA — took care of him, he looked incredible,” Houston shared with People. “He is the most stunning dog I’ve ever encountered. He’s simply breathtaking.”

Following his grooming, the SPCA referred to Matt as a “sweet boy” and provided him with a joyful, normal life.

“He experienced his very first walk without all that excess hair in probably five years,” Houston told KLBK. “His little rear was swaying back and forth, his tail was wagging, and he was absolutely thrilled.”

Once he has fully recovered, Tori Houston plans to find Matt an adoptive family.

What an incredible transformation! While Matt’s long period of neglect and matted fur is heartbreaking, we are overjoyed that he is now safe, groomed, and on the path to a fresh start!

In the world of service and duty, bonds are often forged in the most challenging circumstances. Among the strongest of these bonds is the one between a handler and their K9 partner. It is a relationship built on trust, shared danger, and countless hours of training side by side. Such a connection doesn’t end when the uniform comes off — and for one man, it became the lifeline he held onto during the most uncertain chapter of his life.

This is the story of Daniel Hartman, a decorated military veteran who spent years serving his country alongside his steadfast partner, a German Shepherd named Rex. Their journey together would take them from dusty training fields to dangerous missions overseas — and ultimately, to a moment in a quiet room that no one present would ever forget.

Daniel first met Rex during a routine K9 training program at a military base. The program was designed to pair experienced handlers with dogs trained for specialized tasks, including detection work, security operations, and search-and-rescue missions.

From the start, Rex stood out. He was powerful yet disciplined, with eyes that seemed to read a person’s intentions before they even spoke. His training scores were consistently high, and his eagerness to work was unmatched. Daniel, who had already served multiple tours, was instantly drawn to the dog’s intelligence and loyalty.

“They paired us up because they said we matched in temperament,” Daniel later recalled with a faint smile. “I didn’t realize at the time that he would end up becoming my best friend.”

Over the next several years, Daniel and Rex served together in high-pressure environments. Whether it was sweeping a convoy route for safety or locating missing personnel, they learned to rely on each other completely.

Rex was more than just a trained working dog — he was Daniel’s constant companion. In the field, Rex’s keen senses often provided early warnings that kept their entire unit safe. Off duty, he was a source of comfort, his calm presence helping to ease the stress of deployment.

Fellow service members often commented on the connection between them. “They didn’t have to speak,” one of Daniel’s comrades said. “One look, and they knew exactly what the other was thinking.”

After years of service, Daniel’s career took an unexpected turn. During an overseas mission, he sustained an injury that left him unable to continue active fieldwork. It was a difficult adjustment for someone who had spent so long in a role that defined his identity.

Rex was also nearing the end of his service. Military dogs, like their human counterparts, eventually retire from active duty — but the process of transitioning them to civilian life is complex. Handlers often request to adopt their partners, but circumstances and regulations can sometimes complicate the process.

For Daniel, there was no question. “If Rex was retiring, I wanted him to come home with me,” he said. “We’d been through everything together.”

A Bureaucratic Roadblock
Unfortunately, Daniel’s request to adopt Rex hit an unexpected delay. Administrative procedures meant that Rex was temporarily placed in a holding program while paperwork and clearance checks were processed. For weeks, Daniel waited for the call saying he could finally bring his partner home.

During this time, news reached him that an administrative review was being conducted on several cases — including his own — due to logistical concerns. Although there was no accusation of wrongdoing, the uncertainty weighed heavily on Daniel. He feared that red tape could separate him from Rex permanently.

An Unlikely Reunion
Finally, after several tense months, Daniel received a call from a military liaison: there was a brief opportunity to visit Rex before the next stage of the process began.

When Daniel walked into the meeting room, Rex was already there, sitting patiently beside his temporary caretaker. The moment Rex saw him, his ears shot up and his tail began to wag furiously. Without hesitation, the German Shepherd bounded forward, closing the distance between them in seconds.

Daniel dropped to one knee, wrapping his arms around his partner. “Hey, buddy,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I’ve missed you so much.”

For several long moments, they stayed like that — man and dog, reunited after too long apart. Rex’s deep, steady breathing was the sound Daniel had been waiting months to hear.

An Unexpected Behavior That Drew Attention
Then something remarkable happened. As the initial joy of reunion settled, Rex suddenly became alert, his posture shifting. He stood tall, eyes fixed on one corner of the room, and let out a sharp, decisive bark.

It wasn’t a sound of fear or aggression — it was a working dog’s signal, the kind that had saved lives in the field countless times. Everyone present froze, unsure of what had caught his attention.

The military liaison present at the meeting noted the behavior and recorded the details in the visit report. Later, the incident sparked a quiet review, not because anyone believed there was immediate danger, but because Rex’s instincts had been proven right so many times before.

A Chain Reaction
Word of Rex’s behavior made its way up the chain of command. Out of caution — and perhaps out of respect for his record in the field — certain documents in Daniel’s case were reviewed again. During that process, administrators discovered a minor clerical error that had contributed to the delay in finalizing Rex’s adoption.

While the mistake was purely procedural, correcting it meant that Rex could officially be cleared for transfer to Daniel’s care far sooner than anticipated.

The Day Rex Came Home
Several weeks later, Daniel stood outside his home, waiting. This time, there was no temporary meeting room, no uncertainty about the future. When the transport vehicle arrived, Rex leaped out and ran straight into his arms.

“This is where you belong,” Daniel said softly, ruffling the fur around Rex’s neck. “Welcome home.”

From that day forward, Rex became a permanent member of the Hartman household. He adapted quickly to civilian life, enjoying long walks, open fields, and the comfort of a warm bed at Daniel’s side. Though retired from active duty, he still carried himself with the quiet confidence of a working dog — always alert, always watching over his person.

A Symbol of Loyalty and Hope
Their story quickly spread beyond their community. Local newspapers picked it up, and soon it was circulating online, where readers from all over the world were touched by the loyalty between the two. Many saw it as a reminder that bonds forged in service are not easily broken — and that sometimes, even in complicated systems, persistence and trust can lead to the right outcome.

For Daniel, the experience reaffirmed his belief in following through, even when obstacles seem insurmountable. “If I had given up, I don’t know where Rex would be right now,” he said. “But we made it through — together.”

The Lasting Impact of a K9 Partnership
K9 handlers often speak of the lifelong influence their partners have on them. These dogs are not just tools of the trade — they are living, feeling teammates who share in every success and bear witness to every hardship.

Rex had been there for Daniel during missions that tested his courage, during the long nights overseas, and through the uncertainty of life after service. Now, in retirement, they faced a different kind of mission: healing together.

Why This Story Matters
At its core, this is more than a story about a man and his dog. It’s about loyalty, resilience, and the unspoken understanding that can exist between two beings who have faced the world side by side. It’s about how moments of connection can inspire action — and how even the smallest events can set change in motion.

For those who followed their journey, Daniel and Rex’s reunion was a reminder that hope can arrive when you least expect it. And sometimes, that hope comes in the form of a familiar bark, a wagging tail, and eyes that have seen it all.

A Legacy of Service
Though Daniel and Rex now live a quieter life, they continue to visit local schools and community events, sharing their story and educating others about the work of service animals. Rex, ever the professional, still enjoys demonstrating basic commands and search exercises for children, who watch wide-eyed as he moves with practiced precision.

These events are more than just educational — they’re a way for Daniel to honor Rex’s service and the service of all working animals. “Every dog like Rex deserves recognition,” Daniel says. “They give everything without expecting anything in return.”

Final Reflection:
Daniel and Rex’s journey shows that even in the face of uncertainty, the strength of a true partnership can overcome the most daunting obstacles. Their story is not just about the past they shared in uniform, but about the future they now share in peace — a future made possible by loyalty, patience, and the unshakable bond between a soldier and his dog.
