CLASS ACT: Brock Purdy Quietly Helped Mac Jones Through His Darkest Days — A Gesture That Brought the Entire 49ers Locker Room to Tears

Posted on November 12, 2025

While fans across San Francisco were still wondering why quarterback Mac Jones had mysteriously disappeared from the lineup, a powerful story was quietly unfolding behind the scenes — one that reminded everyone what true leadership and family mean inside Levi’s Stadium.

When news broke that Jones had stepped away from football to care for his hospitalized brother — the victim of a car accident — the entire 49ers organization was shaken. General manager John Lynch and owner Jed York publicly stood by him, promising that no player in San Francisco would ever fight alone.

But what the public didn’t know was how far Brock Purdy went to make sure Jones didn’t face his darkest days without support. According to team sources, Purdy immediately reached out to Jones’ family, offering financial help and personally coordinating with the 49ers’ legal and support staff to ensure his brother’s recovery. He even wrote a handwritten letter that left those who read it in tears:

“You were raised to be a fighter. Now it’s our turn to fight for you.”

Purdy also asked the team to keep Jones’ locker untouched, with a small plaque placed above it that reads:

“Family doesn’t clock out.”

During a private team meeting, Purdy addressed his teammates with quiet conviction:
“We can lose games — but we never let a brother fight alone. This is family. And Mac is still right here, in our hearts.”

A veteran player later admitted, “The room went silent after that. Some guys had tears in their eyes. Nobody said a word — we all just felt it.”

That silent leadership — the kind that doesn’t need cameras or speeches — reminded everyone why Purdy isn’t just the face of the franchise, but the heartbeat of it.

Across social media, fans have turned #ForMac into a rallying cry of solidarity. One fan posted:
“Purdy doesn’t just throw touchdowns — he throws hope when people need it most.”

Mac Jones may not be back on the field yet, but because of Brock Purdy and the brotherhood inside that locker room, he knows one thing for sure — he’s never fighting alone.

Because in San Francisco, the 49ers aren’t just a football team. They’re a family.

In Spags we trust indeed.

The New York Giants are once again on the hunt for a new head coach after firing Brian Daboll amid a disappointing 2-8 start to the season. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport

, several familiar names have already surfaced as potential replacements — and Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is at the top of that list.

Spagnuolo, a two-time Super Bowl champion with

Kansas City, has strong ties to the Giants organization and remains one of the most respected defensive minds in football.

From @NFLGameDay Kickoff: A look at why the #Giants fired coach Brian Daboll and what’s next for NYG.

The Giants’ opening has quickly become one of the more appealing jobs in the league. The team has a young, improving roster and what many believe is a true franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart.

After several up-and-down seasons, general manager Joe Schoen is now focused on finding a coach who can bring stability, discipline, and leadership to the locker room.

According to Rapoport, three names are already being floated for the job: Chiefs’ Spagnuolo, former Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, and Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.

Spagnuolo’s name stands out for good reason.

The 64-year-old coach has deep ties to the Giants organization, having led their defense from 2007 to 2008 and again from 2015 to 2017, even stepping in as interim head coach during his final season.

Former Giants running back Rashad Jennings told TMZ Sports he believes Spagnuolo could be the right fit to lead the team again. “Out of all the coaches that have coached, I

wouldn’t be surprised if they asked Spags to come back to lock down that defense and get an offensive-minded coordinator to take over the offense,” Jennings said.

The Giants’

defense was once the backbone of their championship runs, and bringing in a coach with Spagnuolo’s experience could restore that identity. “Sky’s the limit for them guys,”

Jennings added, referencing the team’s young talent, including running back Cam Skattebo, who is recovering from a serious ankle injury. Why Spag’s Coaching Style Stands Out

In Kansas City, Spagnuolo has crafted one of the

NFL’s most versatile and unpredictable defenses. Players have described his approach as both demanding and transformative.

“It requires a lot of guys to be accountable,” linebacker Leo Chenal

told the Kansas City Star, explaining how every defender on the field must be ready to make pre-snap adjustments.

Chiefs safety Bryan Cook echoed that sentiment. “We’ve got checks about everything they do — motion, shifts, you name it,

” he said. “Spags’ playbook is a lot more complex than I thought. But if we get it done how he wants, it’s poetry in motion.”

Cornerback Joshua Williams explained that the confusion Spagnuolo’s system creates for opposing quarterbacks is one of its biggest advantages. “When they see something they haven’t seen, it throws everything off and messes up their timing,” Williams said.

Despite having stars like Chris Jones, who’s often mentioned in Defensive Player of the Year discussions, Spagnuolo builds his defenses around teamwork. “Spags makes everybody play together. It’s not gonna be a one-person show,” defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, who is now with the Panthers, said. “The way he calls plays, anybody can have that game-changing game.”
