Dancing with the Stars fans who have been stunned week after week over the eliminations, were left finding themselves relieved when the quarterfinals ended with an elimination many thought would happen weeks prior.
With the ABC show’s finale in just a few short weeks, the remaining seven couples were set to face some of their biggest challenges yet, and with the level of competition the show has seen all season long, there were also fears about how the elimination right before the semifinals could play out.
After one celebrity had fans crying out in rage over being “underscored,” many were even more fearful of how the results would play out as the night continued.
However, after the viewer votes and the judges’ scores were added together, many who were nervous breathed a sigh of relief.
Despite making it through for several weeks and outlasting several other celebrities who had been faring better in the competition, Andy Richter danced his last dance.

After Andy and his partner, Emma Slater, were announced as the ones cut, he expressed joy over his time on the floor, and credited his partner for “changing his life.”
“I’ve said it, I’ve said it a bunch, it’s changed my life, I’m a different person because of this show and this woman right here,” he told hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough. “None of this would have happened without her.”
Following his emotional goodbye, fans who were angry he had made it that far took to social media to celebrate his ouster.

“This week the old man, next week the Mormon!!! Please get these votes right next week!!!” a third added on X.
“I’m finally free from Andy,” another added.
However, others shared that while they felt his time to go had come, they were still sad to see him leave, saying he was the heart of show.

“The bottom 3 was my top 3 so har for me. I know it was andy’s time but I truly loved his energy every week,” one person said on Reddit. “Him and Emma had an amazing season and he should be so proud.
“I wish Andy would’ve gone out with more positive discourse. I also thought that it was his time but the amount of people actually celebrating his loss is kinda mean,” another added. “All he did was bring light and laughter into this show.”
“If there was an award for congeniality, it would go to Andy. Heart & spirit of the show,” another said on X.
Others also lamented that his elimination meant the competition would be at its fiercest in the semi-finals–and could be the biggest heartbreaker yet when it comes to an elimination.

Going into the semifinals are Elaine Hendrix, Jordan Chiles, Dylan Efron, Robert Irwin, Alix Earle and Whitney Leavitt.
At least one more will be cut before the finale.
