Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Emily Simpson shared lovely comments about Wendy Osefo from Real Housewives of Potomac, but she doesn’t think she’ll beat the charges against her.
In an interview with Page Six, Emily gave her professional legal opinion of the felony fraud charges against Dr. Wendy.
Emily began, “I know Wendy, and I think it’s lovely. She’s always been so kind to me anytime I’ve met her.”
“I did kind of dig into their case and read about it. It doesn’t look great. I’ll just say that.”
“I do hope she has some kind of solid defense. I read some things. They were saying that the search may be illegal. We’ll see what happens with that.”
“I definitely follow it because it’s legal, but I would say it doesn’t look great.”
“It seems like they have a lot of evidence [against Wendy]. It doesn’t look amazing.”
Last month, Wendy was booked for fraud.
She is facing 16 charges – which includes seven felonies – for allegedly making “false/misleading info fraud in excess of $300.
She’s also facing one misdemeanor count of making a false statement to an officer.”
Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, reported a burglary in April last year, claiming “they found their bedroom ransacked after returning from a trip to Jamaica.”
According to the prosecution’s bail recommendation documents, the couple reportedly told police several designer bags and jewelry had been stolen. However, Wendy was later seen in a social media post wearing a diamond ring she claimed was stolen.
It was determined there was a plan in action all along. Several of the items the Osefos claimed were stolen had been purchased – and returned for refund – by The Osefos.
They concluded Wendy and Eddie returned items to the store “where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary” still claiming they were stolen.
The documents indicate the couple had claimed a $450,000 personal property loss to an insurance company.
