Shamea Morton stays booked and busy between raising her daughters and her thriving career. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member isn’t shy when it comes to talking about her finances, her career, and her family.
Shamea spoke with The Daily Dish earlier this year, where she opened up about her success in her life. “As far as career is concerned, I’m an actress, a singer, dancer, and Atlanta’s best friend,” she explained. “I’m a host. I host from the NBA sidelines to a Bar Mitzvah, a birthday party, a funeral, it doesn’t matter, I’m doing it.”
She continued, noting that she’s been an “on air radio personality” in addition to acting in TV and film roles, which first started in 2002 when she was a dancer in the film Drumline, according to IMDb. She went on to have roles in Ride Along 2, Deficiency Notice, Acrimony, and The Pass, among other films.
Shamea most recently had a role in the TV series Will Trent where she played the role of Aviva Westwood.
Shamea is “so excited” about her single, “Neva Had,” which she released in March. Shamea took to Instagram on March 11, where she opened up about how excited she was to release her first single. “These childhood dreams are finally coming true and I have to give the honor and glory to God,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
Singing is something that Shamea has been doing for a very long time since she started singing in her church choir at 4 years old, according to her website. And, as an adult, she was recruited into several singing groups. “I’ve always been singing,” she told The Baller Alert Show in April. “I’ve been in groups with some of the best, like Keri Hilson.”
Shamea also has some very big goals for herself, as she explained during an April 17 episode of the podcast, Act UP! “I want EGOT,” she said, referring to earning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
“I mean, why not? You know, give me that Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony,” she added.
During the RHOA Season 16 premiere, Shamea opened up about what her husband Gerald Mwangi does for a living. “He’s an African king,” she said laughing. “That is totally not true. He does HVAC.”
She continued, noting that her husband, who is the president of Dominion Energy Management Inc., has worked on some pretty big projects.
“Some of the airports you walk through, my husband has built, manufactured, and installed the HVAC. So, there you have it.”
Shamea was just a little worried about their finances during RHOA Season 16, Episode 9, when she met with a prophet at Cynthia Bailey’s Juneteenth “Bailey-que.” Although the “intuitive life strategist” predicted that 2025 would be Shamea’s “money-making year,” she also had some darker predictions, which didn’t air on the show. “But then she was talkin’ like [we’re] in trouble financially,” Shamea revealed during The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show. “I went home and I was like, ‘I’m gonna have to see that account.'”
After confirming that everything was OK with their finances, she revealed that she still had some anxiety about their situation. “I was like, ‘Welp, do I need to slow down? Do I need to downsize?'” she pondered.
Shamea and Gerald’s home, which they share with their two daughters — Shya and Shiloh — is proof of their success. Shamea gave BravoTV.com a tour of the 21,439 square-foot house which is named “Sterling Hall,” as seen in the video above, where she showed off her eight bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and a room dedicated to model trains.
But the best thing about the house is the primary bedroom, complete with a custom headboard, and custom closet with its own elevator inside of it. “Can you believe his closet was bigger than mine?” she told the camera, referring to Gerald’s closet. “No, that’s not gonna work. So, then we came and added on to my closet.”
Although Shamea has worked hard to get to where she is today, she told The Daily Dish that her family is what she cherishes the most in this world. “I think my biggest success and accomplishment is having a beautiful family,” she admitted. “I’ve got two beautiful daughters. Shya’s six years old, and Shiloh is two years old.”
“My husband who I’ve been with for 10 years, Gerald, my Kenyan king, he’s such a blessing in my life,” she added.
